About

A practical guide for practical ministry

The Pastor's Practical Toolbox exists for one reason: to help pastors, small churches, Christian authors, and small nonprofits make good, confident buying decisions — without hype, pressure, or confusing jargon.

Who's behind this

This site is led by Clarence Bolden (CB) — a pastor, author, and attorney-trained nonprofit leader. After years of serving a congregation and walking alongside small organizations, he saw the same struggle again and again: good-hearted leaders overspending on the wrong tools, or avoiding helpful tools entirely because the options felt overwhelming.

CB brings a rare blend of perspectives to that problem — the heart of a pastor, the careful eye of someone trained in the law, and the practical mind of a nonprofit builder. The goal here is simple: explain real tools in plain English, the way a wise friend would over a cup of coffee.

How we make our picks

Every recommendation on this site is based on four down-to-earth measures:

  • Practical usefulness — does it actually solve a real ministry problem?
  • Stated features — what the maker says it does, described honestly.
  • Affordability — respect for tight church and nonprofit budgets.
  • Ease of use — can a first-time volunteer run it without fear?

We never call a product simply "the best." Instead, we frame our picks as the best for a specific use case — because the right tool for a 40-person congregation may be the wrong tool for a 400-person one. We don't post fake reviews, and we don't display star ratings unless we explain exactly what the rating means.

An honest word about money
